If you are developing a site to be 800 pixels wide by 600 pixels (or longer) tall yet have a monitor that is too large to accurately tell how wide an 800 pixel site should really be, read on...
This site (www.adconn.com) was designed to fit nicely in an 800 x 600 monitor. To create a “test” environment, you can reduce your screen resolution to 800 x 600 (kind of a pain) or you may elect to reduce the size of your browser to approximately 800 pixels wide. To do the latter, you can simply shrink your browser down right here until you see a bottom scroll-bar appear, the widen it slightly until the scroll-bar goes away:
Normal browser ate full resolution (too wide for many monitors)
Browser has been shrunk (thinner) until scroll-bar appears
Browser has been widened slightly until scroll-bar disappears. The browser is now 800 pixels wide.
Alternatively, you may click the links below to create appropriate sized browsers. Each link will create a new browser window of the defined size to simulate that size monitor. The windows won’t be resizable to ensure they stay the correct size and should give you a good idea of what your site will look like at these resolutions.
Create 640 x 480 browser window Create 800 x 600 browser window Create 1024 x 768 browser window
Note: The above links may not work if you have pop-up protection enabled
