This document describes the procedures to configure your mail reader to use our new e-mail system. If your mail is not already configured, please refer to our instructions on how to configure your POP mail reader.
A few changes have to be made to your mail reader configuration to make it work with our new system. For this document we will assume you are using Outlook Express and it is configured to utilize our old e-mail system.
Step 1 - Run Outlook Express
Step 2 - Select Tools / Accounts from the menu
Step 3 - Double click the e-mail account you were using to access our old mail system (might be labeled www.adconn.com or mail.adconn.com)
Step 4 - Click the SERVERS tab and change the following settings:
- Incoming mail (POP3): mail.adconn.com
- Outgoing mail (SMTP): mail.adconn.com
- Account name: [your email address]
- Password: [your password]
- Check the box next to “My server requires authentication” <<--very important
|
IN CASE YOU MISSED THIS. You absolutely MUST check the box under outgoing mail server that says “My server requires authentication”
In Outlook (not Outlook Express), you need to click the More Settings button on the account and make the change as follows:
Do NOT check the box for “Log on using Secure Password Authentication.” or you will not be able to receive your email. |
|
Step 5 - Click on the ADVANCED tab and change the following setting:
- Outgoing mai (SMTP): 25 (used to say 2025)
Press OK and CLOSE and that’s it.
NOTE! Your Account Name is entirely different with the new system than with the old one. Please be certain you make that change!
